Senior Family Law Attorney (Practice Builder)
Chapman Law Group, a growing multi-state health care law firm, is looking to add an accomplished, entrepreneurial, and compassionate Senior Family Law Attorney with a portable book of business to join our team. As part of our strategic growth, we are expanding our practice to include family law services.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned litigator with a strong local reputation and referral network who is eager to build a practice within the infrastructure and support of a respected, established firm. The successful candidate will manage a substantial caseload, serve as lead counsel in complex matters, and help shape the strategic direction of this new practice area.
Chapman Law Group is a digital firm; proficiency in file management and Microsoft Suite is essential. The successful candidate must be able to build on this reputation and legacy, by expanding our services in response to increasing demand for sophisticated family law counsel.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage complex family law cases from initial consultation through resolution, including divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, paternity, and prenuptial agreements.
- Develop and execute effective case strategies tailored to each client’s unique and often emotionally charged circumstances.
- Represent clients in all legal proceedings, including negotiations, mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and trials in Circuit and Domestic Relations Courts.
- Draft and prepare comprehensive legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court rules.
- Provide exceptional client service through regular communication, empathetic guidance, and relationship-building based on integrity and trust.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on business development, marketing initiatives, and strategic planning to grow the practice area.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff as the practice expands.
- Stay current on developments in state family law and court procedures through continuous legal education and research.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the State of Michigan and in good standing with the State Bar Association.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in family law litigation, with a proven track record in handling complex, high-stakes cases.
- Extensive courtroom and trial experience.
- Strong business development skills and an established professional network or book of business are highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet competing deadlines.
- Commitment to professionalism, ethical standards, and collaborative practice.
