Branch Manager

As the new Branch Manager, you will architect the customer experience for professional certified Technicians and Contractors who rely on Johnstone for product selection, expertise, and quality service. This hands‑on leader role focuses on building relationships and ensuring operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Foster open communication through regular team meetings and updates on branch operations and company initiatives.
    • Recruit, hire, and train qualified candidates; provide ongoing coaching for future growth.
    • Create and maintain a safe work environment, enforcing safety policies and complying with regulatory standards.
    • Ensure branch operations align with company policies and employment laws.
  • Customer Experience & Sales Growth:
    • Ensure customers receive prompt, professional service in person and over the phone by setting quality standards and monitoring daily interactions.
    • Work closely with Outside Sales to understand needs, develop sales strategies, and implement promotional programs.
    • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, striving to understand business needs and purchasing behaviors.
    • Maintain a clean, well‑merchandised showroom and ensure the facility contributes to sales goals.
  • Operational & Financial Management:
    • Collaborate with leadership to set sales and profitability goals and implement operational plans.
    • Manage inventory accuracy, security, and product availability while optimizing stock turns.
    • Oversee warehouse and delivery operations, ensuring efficient and accurate order fulfillment.
    • Provide regular updates to leadership on performance, challenges, and opportunities.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in branch operations management within a wholesale environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; college business degree preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example and build a high‑performing team.
  • Knowledge of human resource management: hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Ability to plan, delegate, and oversee daily branch activities while fostering open communication.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and business success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills engage with employees, customers, and leadership.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional tact and diplomacy.
  • Understanding of financial operations: budgeting, profit and loss management, and cost control; knowledge of sales and marketing techniques to drive revenue.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; ability to learn company computer systems.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment; detail‑oriented with excellent organization.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, with occasional heavier lifts using equipment.
