Summit Surgery Center - Full Time RN Pre Op/PACU

Position Summary
Under the direction of Clinical Leadership, the Pre Op/PACU RN provides comprehensive care to patients before and after surgery, ensuring their safety and well‑being throughout the perioperative period. Responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vital signs, managing pain, and facilitating discharge.

Schedule
Full‑time, Monday–Friday. No weekends, no call, holidays off.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical and mental health, gather medical history, and prepare them for surgery.
• Explain surgical procedures and expectations to patients and families.
• Ensure proper surgical site preparation, verify informed consent, and implement safety protocols.
• Perform venipuncture and blood draws as needed.
• Communicate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical team for seamless care.
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen levels, and overall patient status while recovering from anesthesia.
• Administer pain medications and implement pain‑management strategies.
• Recognize and manage post‑operative complications.
• Determine readiness for discharge or transfer and provide discharge instructions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate nursing documentation.
• Operate designated equipment and ensure supplies, equipment, and medications are ready for use.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience (Required)

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• RN license in the appropriate state.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS (per Center requirements).

Preferred

• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.
• ASC experience.
