Una Source Surgery Center (Troy, Michigan) provides multi‑specialty outpatient surgery and seeks a contingent Registered Nurse. The role supports patient safety and well‑being by delivering pre‑ and post‑operative care.
Pay Range: $24.50‑$48.00 per hour (base pay). Actual pay is based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities- Identify and intervene on immediate problems in the pre‑ and postoperative phases.
- Provide direct patient care pre‑operatively and post‑operatively.
- Assess, document, and manage postoperative pain.
- Assess airway adequacy and intervene promptly when necessary.
- Interpret cardiac monitoring data.
- Apply Phase I and Phase II recovery nursing principles and expectations.
- Maintain high confidentiality, responsibility, and discretion.
- Able to prioritize, organize, and multitask.
- Support the organization’s mission and vision.
- Promote teamwork and provide compassionate, collaborative, and trustworthy care.
- Advocate for patient welfare, health, and safety whenever necessary.
- Knowledge of pathophysiology and anesthesia drug effects on body systems.
- Understanding of nursing unit standards of care in pre‑ and postoperative settings.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, Standard Precautions, and policies.
- Effective verbal communication with physicians, surgeons, and anesthesiologists.
- Clear written communication suitable for nursing documentation.
- Math skills for IV drip rates, antibiotic dosages, CC conversions, and pain medication calculations.
- Reading skills for training manuals, orders, and patient data.
- Ability to explain and train other nurses.
- Prioritization of nursing tasks according to POCU/PACU standards of care.
- Adequate vision to read written and electronic materials.
- Good hearing to receive orders and monitor alarms.
- Strong speech for clear communication.
- Physical strength to reposition patients.
- Dexterity to administer injections and assist with procedures.
- Mobility to move quickly during emergencies and to reach overhead/under beds.
- Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program.
- BLS certification required.
- Pediatric experience preferred.
- 1‑3 years of experience in CCU, ICU, ER, and/or PACU preferred.
- Flexible to work unscheduled hours as needed.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams; promotes respectful relationships.
- Provides non‑judgmental, compassionate, nondiscriminatory care sensitive to diversity.
- Respects patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Assesses safety, effectiveness, and cost factors for optimal patient outcomes.
