Quality Control Technician I
Position OverviewConducts all necessary testing analysis to ensure specifications are met prior to product release by performing general analytical chemistry processes and procedures. Focuses on Quality Control standards and practices for finished and intermediate materials.
Primary Responsibilities- Performs required sample analysis, collection, prep, and assembly.
- Completes data entry of test results and maintains records.
- Responds to quality questions from customers and handles quality issues from supervisors and operators.
- Operates laboratory equipment; both manual and automatic.
- Processes incoming samples and assists in processing outgoing samples.
- Performs office functions to include documentation and filing samples to quality control.
- Maintains general housekeeping of laboratory.
- Conducts internal audits.
- Assures the conformance of testing equipment certifications to ISO standards.
- Creates corrective action documentation and communicates to customer.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designated person.
- Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Computer
Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and quality control software. - Special
Skills:
Demonstrates versatility and ability to maintain multiple tasks; strong organizational skills in providing sample analysis. - Essential Functions: Strong computer literacy in data entry; utilizes basic mathematical and problem‑solving skills; possesses listening skills and ability to follow instructions.
Physical Demands: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires standing, walking, using both hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, and occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Work Environment: Employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. Noise level is usually moderate.
