. The role is seasonal, with employment dates May–August, based in Troy, Missouri, and the position lives on site throughout the overnight camp program.

The Unit Leader oversees unit functions, assists with scheduling and staff management, and is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities with campers.

• Assists with general office duties as assigned
• Sustains an environment that supports physical and emotional safety for campers and staff, establishing and maintaining good relationships with campers
• Assists with camp closing and completes other closing tasks as delegated
• Assists with camp set‑up and preparations prior to the arrival of campers, ensuring a welcoming environment for campers and parents each session, and assumes check‑in duties as delegated
• Reviews unit roster and Camper Information Forms prior to arrival, maintains confidentiality, and ensures campers see health services staff as scheduled
• Lives in an assigned unit with other unit staff and campers
• Oversees and assists in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities and throughout the camp to meet intended outcomes
• Participates in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes
• Assists program staff in program areas with supervision and instruction
• Leads program activities as designated
• Ensures cleanliness of unit area and assigned camp areas
• Maintains high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff
• Sets a good example in general camp procedures and practices, including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship
• Be a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior

Meets GSUSA membership requirements and attained the minimum age of 18.

• Abides by national and local Girl Scout policies, standards and procedures, American Camp Association standards and procedures
• Has successful experience working with groups of children
• Has strong outdoor living skills (or willingness to obtain skills) and ability to teach outdoor skills to campers
• Has demonstrated leadership, good judgment, maturity, flexibility, and ability to maintain positive attitude
• Has energy, stamina, and ability to maintain patience and enjoy group living outdoors
• Has current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications or willingness and ability to obtain them
• Has supervisory experience

If the position requires driving an average of one day per week or more, the candidate must possess a valid state driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the insurer.

• Requires talking and hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching; must be frequently very active
• Requires reaching with hands and arms
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Work is performed in a normal indoor environment with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt, and/or dust, and in an outdoor environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt, and/or dust.
