POSITION SALARY: $16.26/hour - $17.68/hour (Depending on education)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Special Education Paraprofessional – Transition Room supports the instructional and behavioral programming of a specialized classroom serving students with Social and Emotional disabilities. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher and in collaboration with a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the paraprofessional assists in implementing behavior intervention strategies, delivering individualized and small-group instruction, and supporting students in developing the social-emotional and behavioral skills necessary to successfully transition to general education settings.

The role also includes general classroom support duties to assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment. This position is essential to the district’s vision of fostering acceptance, diversity, and inclusion for all learners.

The Transition Room is designed as a temporary, supportive environment that equips students with the behavioral, emotional, and academic tools they need to succeed in inclusive settings. As a paraprofessional in this program, you will help implement this vision by supporting student growth, promoting social-emotional learning, and contributing to a culture of acceptance and inclusion

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or paraprofessional certification preferred.
  • Prior experience working with students with behavioral or emotional needs strongly preferred.
  • Ability to implement behavior support strategies and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive practices and supporting diverse learners.
  • Physical ability to perform duties that may include standing for long periods, lifting, or supporting students with physical needs.
