Lincoln County Mutual Insurance Agency, Inc. – Troy, Missouri

Lincoln County Mutual Insurance Agency, Inc. is seeking a Missouri-licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Agent to join our in-house team as a captive agent. The successful candidate will take over an established book of business and grow it by building strong, long-term relationships with individuals, families, and small businesses in our community.

As a trusted local agency, we help clients protect what matters most from losses related to fire, wind and hail, lightning, accidents, casualty, collision, and other covered events. The ideal candidate is genuine, kind, team-oriented, and enjoys getting to know people, asking good questions, and providing clear, honest guidance.

Work Structure

This is a full-time position based in our Troy, Missouri office. Training will begin on-site, and long-term success includes maintaining a regular in-office presence for weekly agency meetings, office coordination, and collaborative client service. A hybrid schedule is available once training and performance benchmarks are met.

Core Responsibilities
  • Sales and Client Management Maintain and service an existing client list while actively prospecting for new clients. Build strong client relationships and work toward agreed-upon sales and retention goals.
  • Client Needs Assessment Evaluate each client’s situation and risk exposure, then recommend appropriate insurance solutions that fit their needs and budget. Complete applications accurately, manage policy changes and renewals, and keep client records and documentation up to date.
  • Customer Service Respond to client questions about coverage and billing, assist with the claims process, and help resolve concerns in a timely, professional manner.
  • Compliance and Professional Development Stay current on relevant insurance laws, regulations, and product changes, and participate in training or continuing education as needed.
  • Community Presence Represent the agency in a positive, professional manner at community events, networking opportunities, and local activities that support relationship-building and business development.
Key Qualifications
  • Hold a valid Missouri Property & Casualty insurance license.
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education or industry designations are a plus.
  • Skills and Attributes
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Genuine, kind, and comfortable working in a small, collaborative team
    • Demonstrated sales ability and comfort with prospecting
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
    • Proficiency with basic computer programs and customer management software
    • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time and priorities
    • Service-oriented mindset with a focus on doing what is right for the client
  • Previous sales or customer service experience is strongly preferred. Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or another relationship-driven field is helpful but not required for the right candidate.

This is a W-2 employee position with a commission-based compensation structure that includes a guaranteed base commission. Full compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.

The agency offers a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision coverage, supplemental insurance options, retirement benefits with employer match, and paid time off.

Community Involvement

Active participation in local community events is encouraged, particularly within the applicant’s home area, as it supports relationship-building and long-term business development.
