Responsibilities- Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover items.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products ordered and ensure correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to meet customer needs.
- Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients using a variety of utensils and equipment.
- Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
- Check product quality for freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Use kitchen equipment (stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, etc.) properly.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand store layout and locate products on request.
- Stay current with ads and promotions.
- Gain knowledge of products to answer questions and make suggestions.
- Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs.
- Promote trust and respect among associates; create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
- Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs; report accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced or stressful environment and manage conflict professionally.
- Maintain honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
- Provide support to customers including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
