The New Business Development / Outside Sales role is responsible for driving new customer acquisition and revenue growth within an assigned territory. This is a field-based, hunter-focused role that owns the full front end of the sales cycle—from prospecting and discovery through quoting and initial customer onboarding.
This position is ideal for a motivated outside sales professional who thrives in a technical manufacturing environment, enjoys face‑to‑face selling, and excels at developing long‑term customer partnerships.
Candidates must live within a commutable distance to Troy, Ohio. No relocation assistance is provided.
Key Responsibilities- New Business Development & Territory Growth
- Develop and execute a territory plan to identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities
- Prospect and engage new customers through cold calling, field visits, email campaigns, Linked In outreach, referrals, and industry events
- Conduct on‑site customer meetings to understand manufacturing processes, applications, and decision drivers
- Position Novacel’s engineered solutions as value‑added, application‑specific offerings
- Own the sales process from initial contact through RFQ, pricing, negotiation, and first order
- Collaborate with Sales Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to develop customer‑specific solutions
- Prepare and present proposals, pricing models, and technical overviews
- Transition new customers to Account Management while maintaining strategic oversight
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activity tracking, and opportunity forecasting
- Meet or exceed targets for new accounts, revenue growth, and pipeline development
- Track KPIs such as meetings held, opportunities created, win rates, and revenue contribution
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer requirements within assigned industries
- Provide feedback on customer needs, pricing dynamics, and emerging opportunities
- Represent Novacel at trade shows, plant tours, and industry events
- 5+ years of outside B2B sales or new business development experience
- Proven success selling within manufacturing, industrial, or engineered product environments
- Strong track record of new customer acquisition and territory growth
- Ability to conduct on‑site sales calls and travel regularly within assigned territory
- Experience with CRM systems and structured pipeline management
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
- Experience selling engineered materials, films, coatings, or custom manufacturing solutions
- Background working with OEMs, Tier suppliers, or industrial manufacturing customers
- Familiarity with RFQ‑driven sales cycles and technical pricing models
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
