Summary
The Thrift Store Cashier supports the Store Manager and Store Supervisor to assure that the front of the store runs smoothly. He/she follows the direction of the Manager and Supervisor to assist customers at the cash register, handling their transactions and answering their questions. The Thrift Store Cashier ensures that the store business is conducted in an ethical manner consistent with the values of Tahoe Forest Hospice and the Tahoe Forest Hospital District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work as an effective member of the Tahoe Forest Hospice Team, following the direction of the manager, supervisor and senior retail associate.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions at the cash register.
- Comfortably answer customer questions regarding shopping and donation procedures.
- Stock floor as requested, bringing stocking concerns to management and addressing them as directed.
- Maintain daily store upkeep, including vacuuming, dusting, straightening racks, and organizing and displaying products.
- Keep the register counter, dressing rooms, and retail floor space clean and organized.
- Tag and price products at the register as directed by Manager or Supervisors.
- Rotate to the back for tagging and hanging products as needed.
- Assist with moving products to and from storage areas.
- Assist with loading and unloading furniture and donations.
- Assist with loading and unloading the van.
- Discard garbage and recycle, including bags of clothing and shoes, and refill the recycle bin.
- Work assigned schedule, including weekends and holidays; may work extra shifts to cover sick days or vacations and may fill in at the Incline Thrift location or The Gift Tree.
- Support the mission of Tahoe Forest Hospice in interactions with customers and volunteers.
- Clearly explain the mission of Tahoe Forest Hospice and the Hospice Thrift Store to customers.
- Appropriately direct inquiries for Hospice services to Hospice personnel.
- Demonstrate System Values in performance and behavior.
- Comply with System policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
