The Clinical Social Worker I is a licensed, experienced professional who serves as the clinical expert in the assessment and treatment of patients, families, and social work consultation to interdisciplinary teams in a variety of inpatient and ambulatory settings within the Yale New Haven Health System. The scope of practice includes diagnostic assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, brief treatment, crisis intervention, mental health consultation, teaching/mentoring, and other project or task force participation as assigned by supervisor.
The clinical social worker works collaboratively with members of the health care teams throughout the organization.

• Maintain and enhance knowledge base and skill set through educational opportunities and meet expectations set forth by State licensure, hospital, and departmental standards.
Education:
Master’s Degree from an accredited school of social work.
For Connecticut, consistent with LCSW licensure requirements, 3,000 hours of post‑masters social work experience and 100 hours of post‑masters clinical supervision. For Rhode Island, consistent with LICSW licensure requirements, 24 months of experience as a licensed clinical social worker under appropriate supervision.
LicensureLicensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from the State of Connecticut, or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) from the State of Rhode Island, or holders of licenses from other states who will obtain an endorsement and meet the State of Connecticut or State of Rhode Island license requirements.
Special SkillsThe Social Worker will possess the following special skills: empathy, active listening, critical thinking, strong organizational and computer skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with and advocate for patients and families.
