The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone, immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Responsible for security of the building, including entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance devices daily function check, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Responsible for customer safety, including accident prevention, accident reporting and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times, and recognize associates using company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code and ensure all associates adhere to the dress code.
- Keep all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard, including daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, task assignment, and follow‑up.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency and manage receipt of non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms, assist with floor moves and promotions, and handle re‑wraps as needed.
- Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and manage store loss prevention, maintaining a large customer service presence on the sales floor.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise, and maintain the public view monitor system.
- Conduct “Code 50” package inspections and execute all company best practices to minimize steps and touches.
- Execute all company best practices to maximize productivity, ensuring associates meet front‑end standards.
- Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the front end, managing line to expedite customer wait time.
