This role offers training in operating theatre (inpatient and daycase), diagnostics, outpatient clinics,yndham and elective inpatient management. It includes supervision of audits, presentations, teaching, and opportunities for publication and presentations at national and international meetings.
Department OverviewThe urology department has 9 full‑time consultants, ST registrars, senior clinical fellows, a surgical education fellow, one CT, two FY2s and three FY1s. It provides diagnostic and local anaesthetic services in an on‑site unit (flexible cystoscopy, urodynamics, TULA וה LATP) and offers subspecialist work in laparoscopic surgery, endourology (PCNL, HoLEP), pediatric urology and andrology. The unit serves a population of 570 000, doubling in peak seasons.
Responsibilities- Assessment and management of in‑patients.
- Assessment and management of acute admissions.
- Attend ward rounds and multi‑disciplinary ward meetings.
- Attend outpatient clinics.
- Assess patients in the Emergency Department.
- Fulfill the duties of the weekly timetable, including out‑of‑hours responsibilities.
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of clinical services.
- Share day‑to‑day management responsibilities with colleagues.
- Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
- Participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
- Attend meetings as appropriate.
- Implement sustainability initiatives as part of NHS Net Zero targets.
- Develop non‑clinical skills, research, quality improvement, or education.
- Travel between hospitals/clinics as required.
- Other duties as required from time to time.
- Basic surgical training (MRCS) completed.
- Interest in pursuing a career in Urology.
- Previous experience in Urology is essential.
- GMC registration required.
