Job SummaryWe are hugely excited to present a new role for our Acute Medical Unit. The unit has recently experienced significant change with the creation of our 'medical rapid assessment and treatment area', allowing us to care for the 'medical take' in the unit for the first time in years. This fast‑paced, high‑energy ward sees large numbers of patients who are often undifferentiated in their care journey.
We have created a senior role – a Sister or Charge Nurse – who will run the shift (days and nights), supported by 2 band 6 nurses who oversee delivery and standards of care on each side of the unit. If you have significant experience in leadership and managing a busy environment, this may be the right role for you.
We would love to hear from highly motivated senior nurses who can fulfil the following criteria:
- Degree level of education (or working towards) / or relevant demonstrable experience
- Current experience of clinical leadership in acute medicine or emergency care
- Current NMC registrant
- Post‑registration qualification in emergency care – e.g. ATNC/ATCC/ALS
- Post‑registration education qualification (or working towards) and mentorship qualification
This is a full‑time post working 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job- Be a role model / effective leader
- Exercise leadership skills to act as a catalyst for change
- Develop and co‑ordinate effective team working
- Communicate on a regular basis with the team regarding trust objectives, plans & business developments
This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, experienced and dynamic nurse to drive the improvement and success of the emergency department.
