The Fracture Clinic at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is looking for a motivated, positive and clinically-competent individual to lead the team and the service.

To be successful in this role you will need to have experience in trauma or orthopaedic nursing as well as managing and leading a team. You will be supported by the Clinical Matron and work closely with the Service Manager and Specialty Lead for Trauma Services.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will have line-management responsibilities for the nursing team, including Registered Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Plaster Technicians and Healthcare Assistants.

You will need to provide clinical leadership to ensure that all patients are provided with a high-quality, evidence-based and seamless service, whilst being a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner.

Ensure the safe, effective, and efficient management of all workforce and financial resources within their clinical area.

To act as a role model and skilled practitioner to inspire excellence, constantly demonstrating the highest standards of care and professionalism.

With the support of the Clinical Matron, lead the recruitment and retention of a skilled, competent, and effective nursing/midwifery workforce for their clinical area and contribute to the identification of new nursing/midwifery and support roles within their clinical specialty.

To facilitate, support and ensure the development of all staff within their team.

To demonstrate an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice and ensure that such evidence is reflected in clinical practice and subject to regular audit.

To represent their specialty and at times their division in corporate wide forums, operational groups, and committees, providing an expert nursing/midwifery contribution.
