We are currently looking for a SSD Production Controller to work in our busy Sterile Services Department. The department provides an important service within the Hospital, decontaminating and sterilizing surgical instruments for the Operating Theatres/Wards, Departments and external customers. The department is fully accredited to European Standards and works within a Quality System. The department has various shifts, which cover the 24-hour day.

Main

duties of the job

To lead the SSD Supervisor team and SSD Staff.

Supporting management team in the day to day running of the service.

Prioritise the workflow to meet the operational needs for clinical services.

To assist with the maintenance of staff records and other documentation associated with quality control, necessary for ensuring the practical application of the departments BS EN ISO Quality management system.

To liaise with theatres and departments regarding instrumentation and service issues.

To take responsibility for the department and staff in the absence of management and to work in partnership with Production Controllers.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Working to NVQ Level 3/BTec or Equivalent in Decontamination
  • NVQ Level 3/BTec or Equivalent in Decontamination
  • NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Management
  • DTM SSD Supervisors/Managers to NHS Guidance
  • WTM4 Management of Flexible endoscope decontamination
  • ISO 13485 Internal Auditor
Experience
  • 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in the decontamination of reusable medical devices and flexible endoscopes.
  • Ability to work accurately to written policies and procedures.
  • Able to identify several hundred different surgical instruments.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience of Track and Trace Systems.
Practical & Intellectual Skills
  • ood verbal and electronic communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Track and Trace Systems.
  • Knowledge of Quality Managements Systems.
  • Knowledge of safety.
  • Well organised.
