Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Sterile Services Technician to join our busy Sterile Services Department. The Department provides an important service within the Hospital, decontaminating and sterilising surgical instruments for the operating theatres, wards, departments, and external customers. It is fully accredited to British, International and European Standards and works within a quality system.
Key Details- Position: 1 x Vacancy
- Shift Pattern: 3‑week rotational schedules – 07:30 to 15:30, 10:00 to 18:00, 14:00 to 22:00 (including a 30‑minute meal break).
- Additional duties: bank holidays and the SSD on‑call rota.
Applicants will receive comprehensive training covering the full decontamination cycle for surgical instruments and theatre sets. This training will contribute towards the achievement of an IDSC Certificate in Decontamination for re‑usable medical devices.
ResponsibilitiesThe role is varied and requires the ability to work with a range of instruments and sundries. You will be trained to perform the full decontamination cycle and must communicate well, work within a team and follow instructions.
Qualifications- GCSE in Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Willingness to become familiar with a wide range of instruments and sundries.
- Previous sterile services experience is helpful but not essential.
