Occupational Therapist – Oak Tree School, Truro, Cornwall.
Salary:
Up to £53,200 FTE DOE.

Hours:

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am–4:30pm.

Contract:

Permanent (term‑time only, with flexibility available).

Required:

Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Role Overview

The Occupational Therapist will work within the Oak Tree School multidisciplinary clinical team, delivering bespoke occupational therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The role follows the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working and includes supporting pupils in gaining independence and improving quality of life within the school setting.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments and develop intervention plans for individual pupils.
  • Maintain and manage an occupational therapy caseload with support from a clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician.
  • Collaborate with the education team to integrate OT strategies into classroom practice.
  • Provide training and consultation to staff on OT principles and techniques.
  • Ensure safeguarding and record‑keeping standards are upheld.
  • Contribute to multi‑professional teams and specialist OT work within the school.
Essential Criteria
  • Recognised Occupational Therapy degree.
  • Valid and up to date HCPC registration.
  • Registered with RCOT.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Preferred experience delivering OT services in educational settings.
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent and/or learning difficulty and/or SEMH pupils.
  • Sound knowledge of OT theory and its practical application.
  • Experience working in multi‑professional teams.
  • Ability to work independently with flexibility in a school environment.
  • Clear and concise report‑writing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a car.
  • Interest in sensory integration or sensory‑informed practice (training preferred).
