We’re looking for an enthusiastic Automotive Technician to join our team at Truro & Penwith College. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your practical expertise with a rewarding role supporting students and staff in a busy learning environment.

About the role

As an Automotive Technician, you’ll play a key role in keeping our workshops running efficiently and safely, ensuring everything is in place for high-quality teaching and learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students and staff with practical activities in the automotive workshop
  • Preparing, setting up, and maintaining tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Ensuring the workshop environment is safe, clean, and ready for use at all times
  • Managing stock, equipment, and materials, including ordering and inventory control
  • Carrying out basic fault finding, testing, and repairs
  • Supporting small groups of learners to develop practical skills
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety and compliance
About you

You’ll be practical, organised, and approachable, with a genuine interest in helping others succeed.

You will have:

  • Experience working within the automotive industry
  • A Level 2 qualification in Automotive Engineering (or similar)
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills

    Excellent communication and teamwork skills
It would be great if you also have:
  • Experience in an educational or technician role
  • L2 Risk assessment, Health & Safety and COSHH training, willingness to work toward these and training will be provided
