Description

We are looking for a creative, confident and well-organised communicator to help people understand homelessness in Cornwall, share how St Petrocs supports people, and encourage more people to get involved in ending homelessness.

You will lead St Petrocs’ content, helping shape what we say, how we say it and who we reach. You will plan and create clear, engaging communications that reflect our values and help build awareness and support for our work.

Working across the organisation, you will build strong relationships with colleagues to identify content opportunities and support fundraising, volunteering, campaigns and events.

What you will get from the role

You will have plenty of variety, with the opportunity to bring your own ideas and creativity to how St Petrocs communicates. No two weeks are likely to look the same - you might be creating a Reel, visiting a service to capture content, supporting a campaign, working with colleagues on an event or developing communications for supporters. You will see your work helping people understand homelessness, connect with St Petrocs and get involved.

The role will give you the opportunity to develop your skills across social media, content creation, digital communications, photography, video and press. You will also be part of a supportive team who care about the work we do and the way we share it.

Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 25th September.

Many of our staff work flexibly, including part-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need. We can’t promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.

What you'll be doing.
  • Create engaging content – write, edit and publish content across social media, the website, email and other channels, using video, Reels, Stories, photography and graphics where appropriate.
  • Sharing our work and impact – work with colleagues across St Petrocs to identify experiences, achievements, activities and moments worth sharing. Develop these into communications for different audiences and channels, using ethical storytelling principles and ensuring appropriate consent and safeguarding when sharing the voices and experiences of people with lived experience.
  • Manage and develop our social media - plan and schedule content, monitor performance and engagement and use audience insight, feedback and emerging trends to understand what is working and strengthen our reach and content.
  • Keep our digital channels up to date - maintain the St Petrocs website and other digital channels, ensuring content is accurate, clear, accessible and engaging.
  • Support campaigns, fundraising and volunteering - work with colleagues to plan and create communications for campaigns, appeals, events, volunteering and other opportunities, helping people understand what is happening, why it matters and how they can get involved.
  • Communicate with supporters - produce emails, newsletters and impact communications that keep supporters informed, recognise their involvement and show the difference their support makes.
  • Build media relationships - identify opportunities to raise the profile of St Petrocs, develop content for the media, write press releases and build positive relationships with journalists.
  • Create printed materials - produce or coordinate posters, flyers and other promotional materials where needed.
  • Support internal communications - help colleagues stay informed by sharing key news, updates, achievements and opportunities across St Petrocs through appropriate internal channels.
  • Maintain a consistent approach - ensure communications reflect the St Petrocs brand, values and the way we want to talk about homelessness.
  • Work collaboratively - build strong working relationships across St Petrocs and within the Engagement team, making communications easy to plan, coordinate and deliver.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested.
  • Who we're looking for.
