Child Protection Social Worker

Enhance child and family wellbeing by joining the Department of Opportunities and Social Development in Truro as a Child Protection Social Worker. This permanent role focuses on assessment and ongoing support services.

As a Child Protection Social Worker within the NSGEU bargaining unit, you will assess safety and wellbeing concerns while collaborating with families and community partners. You will develop comprehensive case plans and advocate for essential resources, making a significant impact on the lives of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess child safety and wellbeing concerns thoroughly

• Develop collaborative plans with families for ongoing support

• Advocate for connections to community resources

• Participate actively in court testimonies and evaluations

• Supervise children in care of the Minister

Requirements:

• Master's or Bachelor's in Social Work with 2 years experience

• Driver's license and NSCSW registration eligibility

• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care

• Excellent problem-solving and creative skills

• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
