Overview
The Pool Manager is a paid, part-time/temporary position in the City's year-round aquatics program scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week. Pool Managers supervise aquatic activities, observe swimmers, enforce regulations for lifeguarding and accident prevention, and perform recreational supervision at designated neighborhood pool sites. The work schedule is determined by availability, operating hours, and the incumbent's skill level.
Responsibilities- Supervise aquatic activities at a neighborhood swimming pool for the recreation program, including swim lessons, recreational swim, swim team, and related activities.
- Supervise and direct staff, including employee selection, work assignment, performance evaluation, employee development, disciplinary action, and complaint resolution.
- Perform lifeguarding and class instruction.
- Plan, direct, and monitor a continuing aquatics safety program.
- Inspect and monitor facilities and equipment for safety, maintenance, and cleanliness; ensure compliance with administrative and safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Assist in promoting activities.
- May assist with training and ensuring staff attendance and participation in required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
Experience: One year of part-time aquatics experience.
Desirable:
- Previous supervisory experience in a recreation setting.
- Two years of part-time aquatics experience.
- Valid American Red Cross
Certifications:
Lifeguard Training, CPR, and First Aid for the professional rescuer or equivalent. - Water Safety Instructor (WSI).

Special Requirements & Demands- Ability to work various schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work is performed primarily in a public pool environment with stamina needed for moderate to heavy lifting and for extended periods in the pool.
- Work is outdoors in a pool environment with wet/slippery conditions; may be exposed to chlorine, acids, and other chemicals, as well as blood and body fluids when rendering first aid and CPR.
Note: If your application is accepted, you will be invited to participate in an assessment process (interview and swim test). Assessment dates and details will be provided later. All potential hires are required to pass a fingerprint review and pre-employment physical examination, including a tuberculosis (TB) test.
