Join us as a Sonography Technologist (PRN) at UAB Medicine. The role is a part‑time, on‑call position with full scheduling flexibility, located in the Trussville Radiology department at UAB Medicine St. Vincent’s Trussville.

• Perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.
• Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
• Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.
• Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures.
• Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
• Ensure prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
• Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in the department.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• One or more of the following required
  • Cardiographic sonographer credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date, or a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) issued by CCI.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to or within 12 months of hire date.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to or within 12 months of hire date.
  • Vascular Technologist (VT) credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 12 months of hire date.

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience or Associate’s degree required. Graduate of an accredited sonography program preferred.
