Job Summary
Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Cost/GL Accountant to play a vital role in our finance department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting various accounting functions. This is a hybrid role, with approximately 50% of the responsibilities focused on cost accounting and the remaining 50% dedicated to general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of inventory costing in a manufacturing environment and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

- Prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and standard allocations.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis (Bank, FA, AP, AR).
- Support preparation of monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Maintain and improve documentation of accounting processes and internal controls.
- Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead in the ERP system.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and inventory adjustments; partner with operations and supply chain to understand root causes.
- Reconcile inventory subledger to the general ledger and prepare supporting schedules for inventory valuation.
- Monitor slow‑moving and obsolete inventory and assist in calculating reserves and participate in annual physical inventory count procedures.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting or finance; CMA required.
- Experience in a manufacturing or inventory‑intensive environment strongly preferred.
- 3+ years relevant experience in general ledger accounting, cost accounting, or combination.
- Strong understanding of accounting theory, knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting.
- Experience with GL, JE preparation, monthly and annual close processes.
- Proficiency in Epicor and Microsoft Office software including Word, Outlook, and Excel (including vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) highly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with both finance and operational teams.

- $80,000 to $100,000 annual salary DOE.
