Associate Overhead Transmission Line Structural Engineer

• Support global transmission projects by performing design engineering and analysis of transmission line work.
• Work on large, extensive 345 kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including emerging technologies such as HVDC and 765 kV.
• Collect and assimilate data for engineering work; perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
• Develop recommendations for equipment and materials while working successfully within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Assist engineering team members and maintain positive client relations through effective communication; support business development activities as needed.

• Continuously learn and stay current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
• Apply knowledge to assigned tasks as appropriate.

• Develop knowledge and comply with Black & Veatch quality program related to assigned tasks.
• Support continuous improvement and change‑management efforts.

• Prepare and verify less complex engineering deliverables.
• Research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work.
• Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
• Adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

• Seek supervisor or project leadership guidance on design details and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Coordinate with others as assigned by supervisor or project leadership.

• Focus on internal client needs while gaining basic understanding of external client interests and drivers.
• Provide support to business development or pursuit activities as needed.

• Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.

• Experience with utility‑scale projects.
• Experience with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑Pole, LPile, MFAD, Sag
  10 or Ultralite.
• Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.
• Solid experience using Excel or similar spreadsheets and MathCAD design templates.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to the assigned engineering discipline.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program in the applicant’s home country or the country of practice.
• Minimum of one year related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screening, motor‑vehicle records search, etc.) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
