Ascentec Engineering is hiring a CAD Designer I.
Are you motivated, hard-working, and detail-oriented? Do you enjoy bringing products from concept to design through fabrication? The position of CAD Designer I is the first full-time step in our design career path. If you have strong mechanical aptitude, good visual skills, and an eagerness to learn fixture and tooling design for the Electronics Assembly industry, this opportunity offers a solid foundation for long‑term advancement.
This position is on‑site (not remote/not hybrid) at our Tualatin headquarters and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.
AutoCAD proficiency test required in the interview process.
RequirementsJob Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 2D drawings in AutoCAD.
- Support the creation of simple fixtures and tooling designs under supervision.
- Interpret engineering notes with guidance from senior designers.
- Release drawings for customer review and approval.
- Maintain CAD block libraries as needed and ensure compliance with established design standards.
- Support Production with basic drawing or documentation‑related questions.
- Follow established file‑system workflows for organizing and updating design data.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Drafting technology knowledge with proficiency in AutoCAD.
- General mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to visualize simple concepts from 2D to 3D. - Basic understanding of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) data preferred.
- Strong computer and file‑system proficiency.
- Willingness to learn ASME print reading and GD&T fundamentals.
- Self‑Starter / Self‑Motivated.
- Detail oriented and quality focused – “Do it right the first time.”

- Professional demeanor and respectful in all situations.
- Honest with good integrity.
- Reliable, dependable, and flexible in a fast‑paced environment.

- May sit for long periods of time – desk & meetings.
- Will occasionally walk to Production, where noise level can be low to moderate.
- Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
