Summary
The Manager of the Codes & Standards Department provides leadership for a team responsible for ensuring that all IEM’s products, operations, and services meet relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations. This role is responsible for growing, managing, and developing a team of Compliance Managers and Codes & Standards Engineers. The primary focus is ensuring that all existing and future products, production procedures, and services activities are set up to be compliant with industry codes and standards.
The team will support all IEM’s expanding production campuses within the US and Canada.
- Provide guidance in the interpretation of technical language and requirements of various codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CSA, ANSI/IEEE C37.20, etc.)
- Ensure IEM’s products comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, and monitor changes that potentially impact products and/or operations.
- Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and recognized NRTLs to ensure that new product designs are aligned with testing methods and certification requirements.
- Lead strategic analysis and review of current and future product listings/files to ensure flexibility of design including multi-vendor and configurable offers.
- Provide strategic recommendations for procedural verbiage to support the product design flexibility.
- Manage UL listing and certification processes including administrative review and maintenance of IEM’s UL files.
- Coordinate with IEM Services, Sales, NRTL Inspectors, and customers for any on-site field inspections/field evaluations ensuring detailed and accurate record management and retention.
- Analyze the impact of proposed changes to codes and standards on IEM’s products or business and develop strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities.
- Develop training and educational materials related to codes and standards for internal and external teams as needed.
- Strategically coordinate Engineering team participation in industry committees, providing technical input, and advocating for positions that align with IEM’s goals.
- Minimum 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or related science field (advanced degree preferred)
- Experience managing and developing teams
- Experience in Standards Compliance leadership role
- Detailed technical understanding of relevant codes and standards
- Familiarity with product testing and certification processes (Electrical Manufacturing Industry knowledge preferred)
- Constructive problem solving to address key technical challenges
- Demonstrated success collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
- Highly effective written and verbal communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
The salary range for this role is $153,600 – $202,800 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
LocationThis position is available in multiple locations, including Vancouver (CAN), Tualatin (OR), and Jacksonville (FL).
