Rapid Prototype team is looking for a technician to add to our team. The team supports hardware engineering with C&F and alpha testing by building assembling prototype cable required for testing and will also support Manufacturing as needed for product shipments. As an Engineering Technician, you play a crucial role in supporting activities including design, test, modification, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, and specialized test equipment.
Referencing schematics, diagrams, and descriptions, you conduct testing and troubleshooting. You'll perform fault isolation and assist in determining methods to remedy malfunctions. Your commitment to precision and problem‑solving enhances engineering systems.
- Mechanical and Electrical experience required
- Experience with a variety of hand tools: wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering to ensure requests are built to specification.
- Reading electrical schematics, BoMs, and drawings.
- Excellent hand‑eye coordination/attention to detail.
- Needs to be multifaceted: order material, perform testing, quality checks along with assembly.
- 2-4 years of related work experience.
- Firsthand experience with installation, maintenance, repair, testing, or troubleshooting of equipment or electronics to include
- Mechanical and electrical assembly and repair experience required
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to include layout drawings, point‑to‑point wire lists and wiring schematics.
- Experienced with a variety of hand tools to perform wire cutting, stripping, soldering and crimping to ensure requests are built to specifications
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal, in English.
- Consistently demonstrates ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
- Great interpersonal skills.
- Excellent hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Proficient in utilizing computer‑based data systems, applications, and Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work a shift schedule.
- IPC‑WHMA
620 certification - IPC‑A610 certification
- Associates degree, Technical Certificate, Diploma or higher in a technical field.
- Experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, metrology, lab operations, or related areas.
- Experience in semiconductor experience is a plus.
- Scope new prototype and build requests for material availability and estimate scope of work required.
- Order material needed to complete requests.
- Build requests assigned.
- Review team members builds for quality control.
- Work with engineering on best known methods and practices.
- Perform testing, check‑out, and troubleshooting using schematics, diagrams, descriptions, layouts, or defined plans.
- Tests and troubleshoots system level and component level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and sub‑systems.
- Inspect materials, components, or products for surface defects and measure circuitry, using electronic test equipment, precision measuring instruments, microscope, and standard procedures.
- Conduct operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment, help in determining methods to remedy malfunctions.
- Support the design, construction, test, and check‑out of test equipment.
- Use test and diagnostic equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.
- Collaborates with development engineers. conducting engineering tests to collect design data or support research efforts.
- Works closely with engineers to resolve issues related to new product introduction such as manufacturability and form, fit, and function for future builds; identify and resolve bill of material and technical discrepancies.
