The Opportunity
As an entry-level Electrical Engineer in Tualatin, Oregon at Black & Veatch, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects to meet our clients' needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch. You will be assigned to a functional area in our Underground Transmission Line department.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
- Develop an understanding and complies with the Black & Veatch quality program.
- Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
- Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
- Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
- Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
- Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Shares information with others as requested.
- Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
- Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
- May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
- Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework and knowledge of Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Previous internship experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides and standards.
- Insights of industry trends and developing technologies.
- Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
- Skilled in Problem Solving, Written Communication, Informing, and Peer Relationships.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering from either a recognized accredited program.

Work Environment
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
