Navajo Preference Employment Act

Overview

The Client Services Technician is part of a highly functioning care team who helps connect patients to resources and team members to promote continuity of care and enhanced care coordination. All efforts are focused on practice transformation to support the patient-centered care model. Following established clinic protocols, responsibilities include educating patients about the care team, confirming appointments and providing reminders, answering patient questions, identifying and carrying out clinical support duties associated with patient care services, and providing administrative provider support.

The position requires working under frequent interruptions, flexibility, and the ability to use tact and respect during emotionally stressful interactions.

Qualifications Necessary Qualifications Education

Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Experience

Six (6) months working in a fast‑paced office environment with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and demands to meet deadlines and proficiency in typing with accurate spelling and grammar.

Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire.

Mental and Physical Effort

Physical

Incumbent must maintain balance, sit for prolonged periods while interviewing patients, and prepare paperwork. Must frequently bend, climb, reach, occasionally stand, walk, kneel, twist, and lift, push, and pull up to 10 lbs. Sensory requirements include near vision, color vision, depth perception, fine detail vision, normal hearing and telephone use, and frequent far vision. Incumbent must manipulate both hands in prolonged simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation, and keyboard use.

Mental

Must effectively communicate required patient information, ascertain accuracy, cope with high stress, make decisions under pressure, manage altercations, concentrate, handle multiple priorities, demonstrate patience, and adapt to shift work with occasional flexible schedule.

Environmental

Incumbent may be exposed to infectious diseases, dust, fumes, gases, chemical agents, and loud noises for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities Essential Functions
  • Participate in daily huddles to determine patient arrivals and identify care gaps.
  • Serve as the clinic’s electronic health record super user and train new team members.
  • Coordinate scheduling, referral management, health record maintenance, and patient data retrieval.
  • Assist in empanelment by assigning patients to a primary care provider and ensuring appointments are scheduled prior to other providers.
