Navajo Preference Employment Act
In accordance with Navajo Nation and federal law, TCRHCC has implemented an Affirmative Action Plan pursuant to the Navajo Preference in Employment Act. Pursuant to this Plan and corresponding TCRHCC Policy, applicants who meet the necessary qualifications for this position and (1) are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe will be given preference in hiring and employment for this position, (2) are legally married to enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe and meet residency requirements will be given secondary preference, and (3) are enrolled members of other federally-recognized American Indian Tribes will be given tertiary preference.
OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY
The Ambulatory Care Nurse in collaboration with other health care professionals addresses patient wellness, acute illness, chronic disease, disability, and other outpatient needs. The nurse will perform a problem-focused assessment of the patient’s primary concerns in the clinical or telemedicine setting. Integrate into the practice the findings of quality of care and performance improvement initiatives. Ambulatory Care Nurse performs a variety of nursing care procedures requiring nursing competency and assessment for specific patient conditions and treatments, with the ability to complete electronic health data entry tasks.
The Ambulatory Care Nurse will carry out physician’s orders, adhere to high quality standards of care, follow nursing policies and procedures and TCRHCC hospital policies.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
License/Certification:
- Must have a valid, current, full and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- Must maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Experience:
Must have one (1) consecutive year of nursing experience in outpatient and/or acute healthcare setting

:
- A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in each of the following areas:
- Positive working relationships with others
- Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities while under pressure
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients and co-workers
- Ability to work independently; reports to work as scheduled without excessive absences
- Ability to work in a computerized environment; computer skills required
- Knowledge of normal growth, development, and life cycle changes; knowledge of the physical, psychosocial, and behavioral characteristics of the age-specific group for which care is provided
- Knowledge of disease entities to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals to recognize the desired effects, side effects and complications on their use, with emphasis on vasopressors and emergency medications titration
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, PPE and safety precautions
- Successful completion of and positive results from all background and reference checks, including positive employment references from authorized representatives of past and current employers demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC a record of satisfactory performance and that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
- Successful completion of fingerprint clearance requirements, physical examinations, and other screenings indicating that the applicant is qualified to be employed by TCRHCC
- Submission of all required employment-related documents, application, resumes, references, and other required information free of false, misleading or incomplete information
