Eligibility and PreferenceNavajo Preference Employment Act – In accordance with Navajo Nation and federal law, TCRHCC has implemented an affirmative action plan pursuant to the Navajo Preference in Employment Act. Applicants who meet the necessary qualifications and (1) are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, or San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe will be given preference; (2) are legally married to enrolled members of those tribes and meet residency requirements will receive secondary preference;
and (3) are enrolled members of other federally‑recognized American Indian tribes will receive tertiary preference.
This position serves as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Emergency Department. The practitioner will interview, assess, and evaluate patients, determine physical conditions, order initial diagnostic studies, and provide medical care services to patients of all ages.
Qualifications EducationBachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies.
ExperienceAt least 2 years’ experience working in an emergency department or urgent care setting. Comfortable with the treatment and management of urgent and emergency conditions (suturing, fracture reduction, managing sick patients with abdominal pain, etc.). Capable of seeing 4 patients per hour continuously for a 12‑hour shift in a Fast Track setting; good knowledge of ACEP Standards and clinical policies.
Licensure / Certification- Must possess a valid, current, full and unrestricted license to practice as a nurse practitioner in any U.S. state, D.C., or Puerto Rico.
- Must possess a certificate from the NCCPA or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Must be credentialed and privileged to serve on the Medical Staff.

- Provides comprehensive diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic health care services to patients; documents visits and updates problem lists.
- Secures health and developmental history, records findings, and contributes in making critical evaluations.
- Provides emergency services or crisis intervention in absence of the physician; reviews and evaluates nursing and medical aspects of care.
- Gives direct physical and psychological care in emergencies, maintains life, provides comfort, and enhances coping ability.
- Handles basic trauma, suturing, fracture reduction, and chest or abdominal pain work‑up.
- Performs a basic physical assessment using observation, inspection, auscultation, percussion, palpation, and diagnostic instruments.
- Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to establish and review patient care plans.
- Adheres to medical regimens, stabilizes chronic illnesses, and adjusts regimens within protocols; works collaboratively with physicians on complex problems.
- Provides health care and preventive services (immunizations, nutrition guidance, common illnesses, etc.) to healthy individuals.
- Teaches patients and families to maintain or improve health status.
- Administers medications, observes and documents changes, and prescribes medications, including dose calculation.
- Participates in planning, evaluation, and revision of program plans; assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to health care delivery.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives (chart reviews, studies related to patient needs).
- Keeps abreast of latest medical knowledge via CME as required by licensing agency.
- Ensures legible handwriting and uses an electronic health record.
- Wears proper personal protective equipment consistently; completes donning and doffing tasks safely and disposes of used PPE appropriately.
- Performs routine cleaning and decontamination of communicable disease–contaminated surfaces.
- Manages electronic health record data entry related to patient service role.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
