The Director, Business Intelligence, will provide senior leadership and strategic direction for business intelligence, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and technology initiatives. This role will focus on leveraging data and innovative technologies to enhance corporate efficiency, operational excellence, and informed decision-making, ensuring alignment with the organization's broader goals.
The Director will oversee the development of advanced analytics frameworks, manage IT initiatives, and foster cross-functional partnerships to optimize technology investments and outcomes. Acting as a strategic partner to business leaders, this role will drive the adoption of data-driven solutions to improve organizational performance and resilience.
Collaboration will be key, with the Director working closely with all business lines, the Business Intelligence team, and System Reliability. Maintaining strong relationships with Georgia System Operations Corporation IT and its leadership will be critical to the success of technology initiatives.
The Director must have advanced knowledge of data analytics tools and frameworks, as well as expertise in leveraging data science methodologies (e.g., machine learning, predictive analytics). The Director will be responsible for collaborating with IT on GTC's cloud computing framework and infrastructure, with an understanding of hybrid cloud environments and how to integrate them. The role will require an understanding of GTC's enterprise resource planning system and other business-critical systems (e.g., IBM Maximo).
The Director will lead cybersecurity best practices and be responsible for compliance with required regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or Analytics, Management Information Systems, Engineering (e.g. Software, Systems or Electrical), Mathematics, Business Administration with a technology focus or other technical degree. Preferred MS in Data Science, MS in Information Technology Management, MS in Mathematics, MS in Business Analytics, MS in Systems Engineering or PH.D in related field.
Experience: Ten to fifteen years in a business technology role with at least five to ten years of leadership and direct people management experience. Industry experience is not required but would be beneficial.
Preferred Experience: Experience in the Electric or Gas Utility industry is a plus or similar industry experience including Oil & Gas, Construction, Railroads, or other heavy infrastructure.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Microsoft Certified:
Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, Cloudera Certified Data Professional (CCDP), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Artificial Intelligence, Practitioner (CAIP), Project Management Professional (PMP) or a Professional Engineer (PE).
Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Must have advanced knowledge with data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik View) and frameworks. Expertise in data science methodologies (machine learning, natural language processing, time series analysis, predictive analytics).
Experience with enterprise systems and applications (Infor Cloud Suite, Oracle, IBM Maximo). Cybersecurity and compliance (NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001, Center for Internet Security Controls, Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies, HIPAA, NERC-CIP, SOX, Cybersecurity Maturity Model. Data security management including data encryption, data governance, data loss prevention. Knowledge of and ability to operate within an electronic document management system and electronic office environment is required.
