Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

Our client, in the mining industry is in need for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team on a long-term contract basis in downtown Tucson! This fully on-site role is ideal for an AP Specialist with strong attention to detail who can manage 100-150 invoices weekly, communicate effectively across departments, and maintain accuracy in financial processing. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to day-to-day payables operations while supporting reliable and timely payment activities.

Responsibilities:

- Process a high volume of weekly invoices with strong attention to accuracy, timeliness, and supporting documentation.

- Review and assign correct general ledger accounts and cost centers to invoices before posting transactions.

- Perform three-way matching by comparing purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to confirm payment readiness.

- Assist in preparing and posting journal entries and record debits and credits in accordance with established accounting procedures.

- Manage invoice coding and verify that charges are allocated properly across departments and accounts.

- Support payment activities such as ACH transactions and check runs while helping ensure deadlines are met.

- Work closely with internal teams to resolve discrepancies, answer payment-related questions, and maintain smooth communication across functions.

- Contribute to a dependable, team-oriented work environment by staying organized, focused, and responsive in a fully on-site setting.

Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Practical knowledge of general ledger structures, including account assignment and cost center allocation.

- Experience completing three-way match reviews and preparing journal entries involving debits and credits.

- Strong background in invoice coding and processing a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.

- Familiarity with ACH payments, check processing, and standard accounts payable workflows.

- Experience using SAP or similar enterprise accounting software.

- Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.

- Reliable work habits, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work 100% on-site in Tucson, Arizona.
