The Office of Research Contracts at the University of Arizona invites applications for a Contract Analyst II position, offering a rewarding opportunity to advance your career in grant and contract administration. This role is vital in the review and negotiation of over 3,200 incoming and outgoing grant and contract award documents annually in support of the University's research, education, service, and outreach missions.

As a Contract Analyst II, you will interact with a range of internal stakeholders and external research sponsors from industry/for‑profit, government agencies, non‑profit organizations, and other academic institutions. You will collaborate with faculty from various colleges and departments in diverse research fields such as engineering, space science, and social sciences to understand and address their grant and contract needs. Your expertise in applying university guidelines, policies, federal regulations, and legal principles will be essential in negotiating and executing grants and contracts successfully.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Reviews, processes, and negotiates assigned agreements, initially starting with outgoing subawards to our various research partners and growing into incoming grants and contracts, non-funded collaboration agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, data use agreements, material transfer agreements, and other research related agreements as required.
  • Works internally on the review of agreements with the Office of General Counsel, Tech Launch Arizona, Risk Management, Export Control, and other university administrative/compliance offices, and externally with research sponsors and research subrecipients and subcontractors as needed.
  • Maintains a database to communicate the status of contracts and amendments.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and stakeholders in the formulation of guidelines, procedures, and the development of templates and other agreement tools.
  • Maintains knowledge of current developments in policy, laws, regulations and best practices regulating university research agreements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Business, Masters in Legal Studies, J.D., or equivalent degree, sponsored research experience.
  • Certified Research Administrator Certification (CRA), or equivalent experience in university administration and/or business, purchasing/supply chain, contracting, or legal operations.
