Role OverviewReporting to the Director, Procurement & Logistics, the Procurement & Contracts Lead is responsible for managing contracts entered into between Copper World, LLC and suppliers of goods and services, safeguarding compliance with contractual agreements—including time, scope and cost—and ensuring adherence to Hudbay’s policies. The role is located at the head office in Tucson, Arizona.
Role Accountabilities- Procurement of goods and services.
- Perform commercial and technical evaluations of competing proposals.
- Manage supplier relationships effectively and collaboratively drive continuous performance improvement via relevant contract key metrics (e.g., SHE, schedule, cost).
- Oversee all aspects of pre‑qualification, preparation, issue, receipt, opening and assessment of tenders and award of contracts.
- Manage change orders and contract variations.
- Ensure commercial and contractual correspondence with contractors is handled efficiently.
- Liaise with end‑users/internal clients/requestors to ensure commitments and milestones are achieved and coordinate with contractors to expedite progress while mitigating potential liquidated damages.
- Prepare, update and maintain procurement reports (including registers for guarantees, procurement strategy, contracts placed, close‑outs).
- Oversee implementation of the West Coast Procurement Plan for applicable commodity groups.
- Administer assigned contract orders, including change order processing, compliance with terms and regulations, invoice processing, verification, performance evaluation, and contractor compliance in a cost‑effective, timely manner.
- Provide coaching, support and guidance to team members to ensure delivery of results where possible.
- Escalate complex functional or technical issues promptly to the Procurement Manager or Project Manager.
- When necessary, liaise with legal counsel or management for clarification or direction regarding procurement liabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or a related field.
- Experience in a similar role within engineering, mining or construction industries.
- Experience in contracts and capital procurement.
- Proficiency in MS Office or Google Suite at a minimum intermediate level.
