Paving Laborer: Build Roads & Driveways Outdoors

The Paving Laborer is responsible for assisting with the construction, repair, and maintenance of paved surfaces such as roads, parking lots, and driveways. Duties include preparing work sites, handling paving materials, operating basic machinery, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will be dependable, capable of performing physically demanding work outdoors, and able to follow directions effectively.

• Assist in preparing surfaces for paving by clearing debris, grading, and compacting soil or aggregate.
• Spread, level, and smooth asphalt or concrete using rakes, shovels, and other hand tools.
• Operate and maintain small equipment such as tampers, rollers, and vibratory plates.
• Support paving machine operators and truck drivers as needed.
• Monitor the work area for safety hazards and comply with company safety protocols.
• Clean up and restore the job site after completion of paving work.

• Ability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of paving processes and materials.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
• Physical stamina and strength for lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.

• Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in construction or road work (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on the company and work location.
• Preferred:
  • One year of experience in paving or related construction work.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and paving equipment.
  • OSHA or other safety certifications.

This position is primarily outdoors and involves exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise. Protective gear will be provided as necessary. The work is physically demanding and requires lifting heavy materials and equipment, as well as working in a team setting.
