- Maintain a consistent, visible field presence working directly with employees, supervisors, and contractors
- Observe work, discuss hazards, and reinforce safe practices across mine areas, process facilities, and shops
- Conduct planned inspections, risk assessments, andjob hazard analyses
- Support implementation of MSHA requirements,Life-Saving Rules, and critical risk controls (mobile equipment, hazardous energy, confined spaces, fall protection, electrical work, chemicals)
- Assist with incident investigations, corrective action tracking, and lessons learned
- Deliver or coordinate safety orientations, toolbox talks, and refresher training
- Coach supervisors on hazard recognition, risk assessment, and safety conversations
- Support contractor safety expectations and monitor higher-risk activities such as construction, shutdowns, and nonroutine work
- Assist with occupational health topics (heat stress,dust, noise, chemical exposure) and emergency preparedness
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health,Industrial Hygiene, Mining Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- At least 5 years of progressive safety experience inmining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or construction
- Experience providing direct field support to supervisors, employees, and contractors
- Working knowledge of MSHA requirements and practical application in surface mining and processing operations
- Familiarity with critical risk controls, hazardous energy isolation, mobile equipment safety, confined spaces, and chemical safety
