Summary OfJob Description
Under the direction of the Principal, the Dean of Scholars works closely with the school administrative team to establish and maintain a safe and positive learning environment by serving as an instructional leader in the planning, coordination, and administration of school activities and programs. The Dean ensures scholars have a positive and safe school environment, and that they succeed academically and socially.
The Dean employs relational discipline methodology to provide support to scholars who need additional behavioral support, following Leman Academy’s Character Attributes, in alignment with Leman Academy’s Mission and Philosophy, and outlined in the Family Handbook.
Principal / Site Administration
Works withAssistant Principals, Vice Principals, Counselors, Social Workers, ESS Teachers, and General Ed Teachers.
Qualifications /Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Two or more years of successful K-12 teaching experience.
- Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Experience with relational discipline and/or restorative practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage and build positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Strong collaborative skills to cross‑collaborate with instructional and operational team members.
- Ability to think creatively and innovate solutions, work from concept to implementation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work efficiently, take initiative and be self‑directed.
- Scholar support:
Provide guidance to scholars, teachers, and parents, and help scholars with attendance and disciplinary issues. - Scholar behavior:
Build relationships, enforce policies, investigate incidents, determine consequences and maintain accurate incident documentation. - Attendance support:
Monitor and improve scholar attendance, including truancy cases, absences, and tardies, and engage with families to resolve attendance issues. - Parent partnership:
Engage and communicate with parents and families to reinforce and encourage positive outcomes. - Scholar life:
Create and/or support initiatives to improve overall scholar success, and handle communications about scholar support services. - Scholar activities:
Lead and attend campus events, clubs, and extracurriculars. - School culture:
Provide leadership on community partnership to promote a positive school culture. - School safety:
Work with administration to ensure the school is safe and secure, lead and manage emergency procedures and drills. - Teacher supports:
Create professional development programming to lead teachers in effective positive classroom management, positive scholar relationships, and relational discipline. - Classroom supports:
Provide support and feedback for instructional staff regarding scholar behavior. - Additional supports:
Lunch, Recess, Afterbell, MTSS and 504 support. - Other duties as assigned.

Salary:
Starting at $27,000 Annually.
