Adjunct Faculty Pool – Mathematics (MAT)

Salary: $1,030 per load hour (most courses are 3-4 load hours).

Position Summary: Pima Community College’s Mathematics Department seeks qualified part‑time instructors to expand our pool of adjunct faculty for the 2025-26 academic year. Qualified candidates may be asked to teach college‑level courses in Developmental and Academic mathematics, including:

  • Introductory and Intermediate Algebra
  • Topics in College Mathematics
  • College Algebra
  • Pre‑Calculus
  • Calculus Sequence

Instructors will employ active learning strategies and online resources, providing equitable instruction to all students. Classes may be offered face‑to‑face on campus, or via Hyflex (hybrid and flexible).

Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in mathematics and work with them on strategies to achieve academic success.
  • Follow established protocols for presence, responsiveness, grading, attendance taking, and assessment of student learning.
  • Use current, effective classroom management techniques.
  • Monitor and continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met at the classroom, program, and college levels.
  • Evaluate student performance and continually improve instruction using appropriate delivery methods.
  • Maintain competency and currency in the teaching field, teaching strategies, subject delivery modalities, and assessment methods.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students and communicate collegially.
  • Use online resources to meet with students virtually.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching mathematics courses, both traditional and web‑enhanced.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, course design, and online delivery.
  • Ability to adapt instruction based on student learning styles, including accommodations and accessibility.
  • Strong technical skills for enhancing instruction with technology.
  • Experience with learning management systems.
  • Ability to evaluate student progress and maintain high instructional standards.
  • Competency in multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusivity, including knowledge of diverse student populations.
Minimum Qualifications

Developmental Level

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics or a related field (Statistics, Data Analytics, some engineering fields, etc.)
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 24 semester hours in the field of study.

Academic Level

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics or a related field (Statistics, Data Analytics, some engineering fields, etc.)
  • Or Master’s degree in any discipline with 18 graduate semester hours in the field of study.
  • Fields of study may include mathematics, statistics, data analytics, mathematical sciences, some engineering fields, physics, or mathematics education. (Education courses are NOT considered a related field of study.)

  • Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week for more than 19 weeks in a fiscal year must participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP).
