Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data‑driven decision‑making. Will create daily lesson plans, participate in ongoing professional training sessions, meet with Administration and the Professional Development team for instructional planning based on assessment data, and work with grade level teams of teachers to collaboratively plan and may also form common unit assessments.
- Establish and enforce rules and procedures for responsible behavior.
- Observe and evaluate scholars’ academic performance, behavior, and social development.
- Prepare materials and instructional resources based on the classical model.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet scholars’ varying needs and interests.
- Plan and conduct scholar activities for a balanced program of instruction.
- Instruct scholars using whole class, small groups, and individual techniques such as EEI, Direct Instruction, Socratic Teaching, Cooperative Learning, Inquiry‑Based Learning, and Discovery Learning.
- Notify site administrator of special needs scholars.
- Work with Special Education Instructor to support special needs scholars.
- Provide disabled scholars with assistive devices and supportive technology.
- Prepare and plan for ELL strategies under guidance of Principal and Administration.
- Develop curriculum maps; establish clear objectives and identify standards.
- Assign and grade classwork, maintain scholar data books.
- Prepare assessments and analyze proficiency data.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to resolve behavioral and academic problems.
- Maintain accurate scholar records per school and legal requirements.
- Prepare scholars for later grades and guide them with social and academic support.
- Provide interventions for scholars requiring extra help.
- Use technology and equipment to supplement instruction.
- Prepare reports on scholars and activities.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, and guest speakers.
- Organize and label materials; maintain classroom organization.
- Attend professional development and educational conferences.
- Serve on committees and attend staff meetings.
- Administer standardized tests and interpret results.
- Involve parent volunteers and supervise teacher assistants.
- Assist in hall monitoring and supervise drop‑off/pick‑up of scholars.
- Inventory classroom equipment and supplies.
- Sponsor extracurricular activities.
- Maintain FERPA confidentiality.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support collaboration.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and passing scores on the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments or a current Arizona or other state teaching certificate.
- One year of demonstrated teaching experience or an equivalent combination of training or experience.
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Working knowledge of Classical curricula and learning, or willingness to learn.
- Understanding of Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy, or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of AzM2 and data measurement.
- Knowledge of Common Core Standards (Arizona College and Career Ready Standards), or willingness to learn.
- Experience with ATI online Instructional Improvement and Effectiveness System.
- Knowledge of Saxon Math program, or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of Shurley English language arts program, or willingness to learn.
- Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision making.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to supporting excellence in classical education.
- Knowledge of pedagogy, instructional methodology, curriculum development.
