Summary:
An exciting opportunity is available for a Para educator to join our English Learners (EL) program, providing vital support to EL teachers and students. This role involves a variety of instructional tasks within classrooms to assist the EL teacher, enhancing the educational experiences of EL students through one-on-one and small group interactions, preparation of teaching aids, and utilization of diverse instructional methods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing instructional guidelines established by the EL Teacher.
Work directly with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
Prepare and utilize teaching aids, such as charts and graphs, to support instruction.
Travel between designated schools to support the EL program as required.
Engage students using a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, role-playing, and technology.
Assist in the identification, scheduling, and assessment of EL students.
Support the teacher in maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must effectively perform each essential duty.
Requirements include:
Completion of two years or more at an accredited college or university, an Associate's Degree or higher, or a passing score on the state Parapro test. Official transcripts required for degree verification.
Knowledge of a foreign language is beneficial.
SEI Endorsement is preferred.
Skills:
Proficient in basic mathematical skills, including arithmetic, rates, ratios, and percentages.
Strong reasoning abilities to understand and execute instructions and address problems efficiently.
Effective communication skills for interacting with students, teachers, and parents.
Physical Demands:
This position requires regular standing, handling of materials, reaching, and speaking. Frequent mobility, bending, and lifting of up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, are necessary. Must be able to navigate the campus and tolerate exposure to various environmental conditions.
Work Environment:
The work environment varies, including exposure to mechanical parts, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and varying noise levels. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
