Primary FunctionUnder the direction of the school principal, the teacher supports the Diocese of Tucson in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment. The teacher acts as a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching academically and behaviorally while at work and in personal life, “Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.”

- Recognize and support the unique Catholic mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Give evidence of living Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of a personal faith journey.
- Demonstrate core competencies in instructional planning, content knowledge in theology/religious studies, pedagogical knowledge, and adolescent development.
- Maintain proficiency in primary and secondary sources in theology and religious studies.
- Design coherent instructional planning, assessment, and student learning.
- Build respectful relationships with students and families in a multicultural and multi-religious environment.
- Motivate student interest in theology and religious studies.
- Manage classroom procedures and student behavior.
- Lead student learning in a classroom setting using best practices in instructional planning and execution.
- Use a variety of assessment methods to determine student mastery of content and skills and provide feedback.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptivity in instructional practice in response to student learning needs and environmental conditions.
- Engage as a reflective practitioner who identifies strengths and needs for growth.
- Communicate effectively across media and interpersonal settings.
- Integrate into a collegial community of teaching and learning experts.
- Conduct oneself with integrity, ethical conduct, and service to young people and families.
- Enforce school policies and regulations and follow the dress code.
- Abide by rules and directives received from the principal and perform other duties as assigned.
The teacher shall have coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual capabilities, and the ability to lift as required in a normal office environment.
Required ActivitiesWalking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.
Basic Qualifications- A practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
- Excellent communications skills (written, oral, public speaking, presentation).
- Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; self-starter and team player.
- Available for evening and weekend work; reliable transportation.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in computer technology (word processing, Excel, related technology) and maintain confidentiality.
- Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapt appropriately in a ministerial environment.
- Complete a criminal history and background check.
- Professional bearing and clean, neat personal appearance.
- Completed bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Certified by the State of Arizona as a Teacher with renewal per state law.
