Day

to Day

Our Senior Civil Engineering PM will be involved in helping foster livable communities in all parts of the country. Projects range from natural surface trails to large arterial multi-use paths; from Complete Streets to regional/multi-state bicycle and trail networks.

Responsibilities
  • Managing a variety of transportation projects from design through construction, driving project success and influencing sustainable outcomes.
  • Implementing best practices and process improvements to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Mentoring staff and contributing to internal professional development and training for the technical engineering team.
  • Providing leadership and technical expertise to the Engineering team and collaborating with other disciplines (planning, landscape, data) as needed.
  • Preparing schedules, budgets, and scopes of services for projects.
  • Balancing workloads across projects.
  • Supporting the regional leader in business development.
Qualifications

Required

  • 12+ years of experience as a Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity; 5+ years as a Project Manager; 3+ years managing staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or TE (Traffic Engineer) licensure.
  • Experience in active, non-motorized transportation.
  • Strong understanding of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates packages for roadway projects and project management principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Ability to guide staff and manage internal team expectations.
  • Strong initiative and ability to capitalize on opportunities to enhance Alta’s market position.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple simultaneous projects within budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent professional ethics, leadership skills, accountability, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, MS Project or equivalent, AutoCAD or Micro Station.
  • Proficiency in an enterprise-wide resource planning and project management tool.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience managing large projects for both private and public clients.
