Job Overview

The Tactical Radars and Effectors Department within the Raytheon Hardware Engineering Team is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Section Lead to support effector programs within the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) strategic business unit. The role is expected to be onsite and based in Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, mentor, and lead a team of 10‑15 engineers, including hiring, staffing, performance evaluations, mentoring/coaching, expense reports and timecard approvals.
  • Support LADS programs in a technical leadership role, collaborating with the Department Lead on the execution of Hardware Engineering and Raytheon Engineering goals.
  • Provide highly skilled multi‑disciplinary engineering services across all program phases focused on the development, design, deployment, and operational systems for use in U.S. Government and foreign military applications.
  • Lead proposal activities, program startup, and execution, including preparing technical and cost proposals, conducting technical presentations and acquiring relevant engineering and functional approvals.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics (STEM degree).
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with progressive leadership roles.
  • Experience in hardware engineering design, development, and production support.
  • Leadership experience in frontline or project leader roles.
  • Experience working on products for military applications or challenging environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to the start date (U.S. citizenship required).
Qualifications We Value
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related discipline.
  • Practical experience in all phases of a missile product development lifecycle from concept development through product delivery and support.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering Technical Data Package (TDP) development and release.
  • Experience working with suppliers or production facilities during manufacture and assembly of products.
  • Experience in requirement compliance and product qualification processes.
  • Experience in functional management of engineering teams driving performance, mentorship, knowledge transfer, managing through change, and exhibition of influential leadership.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Estimate to Complete (EAC) processes.
  • Experience preparing both technical and cost proposals, critically reviewing proposals, conducting technical presentations, and acquiring relevant engineering and functional approvals.
  • Demonstrated track record for working effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity working with U.S. Government, DCMA, and/or customers during program development and sell‑off.
  • Advocate for process improvement team builder, and ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with internal resources.
Salary & Benefits

Salary range: 101,000 USD – 203,000 USD.
