Staff Hydrogeologist (Analyst)
Montgomery & Associates, Inc. (M&A) is seeking a full-time
early-career
hydrogeologist to join our Tucson office. The role includes processing and analyzing data, supporting groundwater modeling activities, and preparing reports. Duties will vary with experience and qualifications. The candidate will interact with a range of M&A project staff and project managers, administrative personnel, and clients. Occasional field work may be required.
Duties
- Compiling, processing, and analyzing hydrogeologic data
- Creating and maintaining project databases
- Assisting groundwater modelers with data input, processing, and analysis
- Developing water budgets and hydrogeologic conceptual models
- Using spreadsheets, databases, GIS, and graphing software to create and manipulate data files, maps, and plots
- Processing and importing data for web-based data portal and data management system in support of project needs
- Preparing data summaries, presentations, and technical reports/memos
- Participating in client meetings/teleconferences to present results and recommendations
- Understanding of groundwater principles and a clear understanding of how to apply hydrogeologic principles to characterize and assess groundwater systems
- Graduate degree in hydrology, or geology with hydrology courses strongly preferred
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in teams and at times with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of GIS systems (ArcGIS Pro), Python data analysis and Access or SQL databases strongly preferred
- Experience using standard analytical approaches and tools
- Experience with working on data analysis to support groundwater modeling preferred
- Up to 4 years of experience in water resources or environmental consulting preferred
- Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and general computer skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to legally work and reside in the United States
