The State and Local Tax (SALT) practice is a growing focus within EY, enabling a broad range of services for hedge funds, private equity, banking, and real estate clients.

• Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex state and local tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.
• Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to clients.
• Researching current market trends to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
• Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve clients’ tax activities.
• Researching clients’ business operations and building long‑lasting relationships to tailor advice to their specific needs.
• Supervising a motivated team of professionals to guarantee they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential.

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• CPA, licensed Attorney, or EA.
• A minimum of 8 years of professional knowledge in a broad range of state and local income/Franchise tax processes, concepts, and tools.
• Experience managing budgets, people, and projects.
• A record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
• Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
• The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
• Strong influencing skills and the confidence to question existing processes.

• A proven record in a professional services environment or in‑house experience in a wealth and asset management company.
• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, One Source Tax Compliance Software, Corptax, and/or Premium Pro.
• Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
• Ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members.
