SUMMARY

Performs complex accounting processes, creates budgets and pro formas for designated high volume/variable Tucson Medical Center and Affiliates (TMCH) areas. Responsible for analyzing and reporting the organizations investments with portfolio in accordance with GAAP, regulatory requirements and internal policy. Responsible for accurate accounting for investment transactions, supports financial audits and collaborate with Treasury and other finance teams as well as the external investment managers to maintain integrity and transparency of all investment activities.

Evaluates processes and provides recommendations regarding internal control or process efficiency. Understands complex accounting issues and can make recommendations regarding correct Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) treatment. Analyzes business operations and provides consultation for optimum system utilization. Sr. Accounting Analyst will assist also be responsible for other accounting related activities and responsibilities in month‑end close.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Works effectively with all levels within the organization; acts as a liaison with staff to assess their needs and provide information and support as needed.
  • Advise and support team members to set priorities and utilize problem‑solving techniques with minimal direction and appropriate collaboration.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and reconciles financial data and compiles associated reporting. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
    • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting for all investment types, including equities, fixed income, alternative investments, money markets and other marketable securities.
    • Prepare and record journal entries related to investment income, unrealized/realized gains and losses, fees and fair value adjustments.
    • Analyze, reconcile all investment accounts, custodial statements and related schedules with exceptional accuracy, and coordinate activity related to the balance sheet accounts and prepares documentation per policy.
    • Prepare financial data and reporting on current financial operations, ensure adherence to financial policies, and assist in implementation of significant organization development.
    • Assist management with problem resolution, defining efficient and cost‑effective ways to address issues as they arise, and assist in assessing requirements to meet goals and scheduled deadlines.
    • Implement and modify test plans for information technology systems including unit and system testing.
    • Create systems for and maintain record of investments.
    • Develop and maintain proper documentation that supports internal and external reporting.
  • Responsible for the development of processes, procedures, and preparation of data related, but not limited to the following:
    • Oversee financial affairs for Tucson Medical Center and Affiliates (TMCH) including the preparation of financial reporting, and supporting documentation using actual performance, previous budgets, estimations of revenues and expenses, and other factors.
    • Serve as consultant regarding TMCH financial affairs, development of operating policies and procedures, department needs/problems, financial system requirements.
    • Serve as a resource to all TMCH financial statement users; perform high‑level analysis and troubleshooting functions as needed.
    • Prepare monthly financial statements at either company or subsidiary level including trial balance preparation and organization of monthly journal entries.
    • Prepare sufficient documentation and narratives for TMCH’s financial reporting.
    • Meet with customers frequently and provide frequent written status updates to customers, team members, and department management.
    • Prepare, identify, analyze, and resolve accounting issues including budget variance analysis on general budget issues, cost‑benefit data analysis, statistical reports, and other fiscally related duties assigned.
    • Analyze and interpret TMCH operating results; make specific recommendations profit improvements, adapt programs to changing needs, and maintain related documentation.
