Financial Analyst

Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Analyst will serve as the key preparer of all forecasting/budgeting, management reporting, and cost reporting / control.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Forecasting/Budgeting:

• Assist in preparing annual budget and monthly forecast financial models.
• Support the preparation of annual budget and monthly forecast workforce planning models.
• Provide financial support to accomplish plans, including financial modeling, scenario planning, and monitoring performance against strategic decisions.

2. Management Reporting:

• Assist in preparing slide deck presentations for Senior Management.
• Help distill large amounts of data into meaningful, insightful, and succinct analysis.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports for internal audiences.

3. Cost Reporting / Control:

• Support the creation of cost reports for department heads to analyze actual costs incurred versus budgets and previous forecasts to detect or prevent cost overruns.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data integrity and enable better insights.
• Help track key performance indicators to preserve and maintain value.

4. Accounting and Financial Reporting:

• Act as a backup for critical accounting functions, such as journal entry preparation, accounts payable, payroll, and treasury functions.
• Assist with the requests of internal and external auditors.
• Provide financial analysis support for complex accounting matters as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND

EDUCATION:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

Experience:

• 2–4 years of relevant corporate finance, accounting, or financial analysis experience. Business partnering experience and excellent communication skills
• Advanced Excel skills / some experience with financial modeling
• Experience preparing forecasts and budgets

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with the Mining industry
• Experience with SAP FICO
• Experience in creating cost reports and working with department heads to analyze costs (cost control)
